ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

This statement was last updated on September 2025.

At Julian Builds, we are working to make our site www.julianbuilds.co.uk accessible to everyone including those people with disabilities. We want everyone who visits julianbuilds.co.uk to feel welcome and be able to use the site easily.

Our Commitment

Our objective and motivation

At Julian Builds, we want everyone who visits julianbuilds.co.uk to feel welcome and be able to use the site easily. We are committed to meeting accessibility requirements under the Equality Act 2010 and aiming for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

What we've done

Where we are compliant

Based on current checks, our website already meets accessibility best practice in these areas:
  • Headings and structure: Pages are organised with proper headings so that screen readers can follow the content in order.

  • Keyboard navigation: Menus and forms can be used with a keyboard (for example, using the Tab key).

  • Language setting: The site is correctly marked as English, so assistive technologies know which language to read.

  • No automatic motion: We do not use auto-playing videos or moving content that could cause issues for some users.

Areas we are working on 🔧

We recognise there are areas where improvements are needed and we are actively working on them:

  • Colour contrast: Some text (for example, white text on images) may not meet recommended contrast levels. We are reviewing our colour palette and will adjust where needed to improve readability.

  • Alternative text for images: Some images currently rely on file names instead of descriptive alt text. We are updating all images so that meaningful content has proper descriptions, and decorative images are correctly marked.

  • Form labels: While forms have visible labels, we are improving the behind-the-scenes code so that screen readers can announce fields more clearly.

  • Third-party content: Any external plugins, maps, or tools may not fully meet accessibility standards. Where this is the case, we will look for accessible alternatives or provide text-based options.

Ongoing improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing process. We regularly review our website and will continue making changes to ensure it becomes more inclusive.
